Pecha Kucha: PowerPoint as Art Form and Competitive Sport

Pecha Kucha: PowerPoint as Art Form and Competitive Sport

Presenters: Candice Benjes-Small (Library), Susan Van Patten (RCPT), Niels Christiensen (Psychology)
Bonnie 229
Thursday, April 16, 12:30-1:45 pm

Pecha Kucha is a PowerPoint presentation that is exactly 20 slides displayed for 20 seconds each.  As Wired Magazine says, “The result, in the hands of masters of the form, combines business meeting and poetry slam to transform corporate cliché into surprisingly compelling beat-the-clock performance art.”

Come see a live Pecha Kucha presentation, and hear Dr. Susan Van Patten and Dr. Niels Christiensen talk about how they had their students use this presentation style for class projects.

No registration is necessary for this event.  For questions, contact Candice, x6801, cbsmall@radford.edu

New art in the library

McConnell Library is pleased once again to host an installation of the Art 204 sculpture class project.  This semester, students were given wide latitude with type of media and subject matter.

Course instructor Rahn Binkley said, “These 27 sculptures explore a wide range of subjects in a variety of materials, and have been installed in the library’s 2nd through 5th floors. Some of these sculptures are site-specific, and installed to interact with their location, while others are meaningful on their own. I hope this exhibit provides a pleasing therapeutic experience to people who study or research in the library.”

The exhibition ends May 8, 2009.
