Wednesday, September 13, 12 noon to 1 pm
McConnell Library, Classroom B
Hosted by Eric Ackermann, egackerma@radford.edu
Over the summer, McConnell Library purchased access to Web of Science, which includes the online version of Science Citation Index, Social Science Citation Index, and Arts & Humanities Citation Index. Come to this brown bag and find out who is citing your publications, what your colleagues are publishing, who is citing them…and more! Other topics include cited reference searches; citation alerting (be notified when someone cites your work, or work in your field); and exporting to EndNote.
Brown bag sessions are intended for faculty and staff, but students who are interested in the topics are also welcome!
Library Survivor workshops are designed to help students learn how to use the library more efficiently outside of class time. Many professors offer extra-credit for attendance. Classes are held in Library Classroom B and are restricted to 24 stduents. Doors open ten minutes before the start of the class.
Library Basics: Monday, September 4, 3 pm to 3:50 pm
Citations and Full Text: Tuesday, September 5, 9:30 am to 10:45 am
Plagiarism: Wednesday, September 6, 6 pm to 6:50 pm
Workshops on EndNote and APA Citation Format will be offered later in the semester. To see a full schedule and complete details, visit http://lib.radford.edu/Instruction/survivor.asp
Web of Science provides citations to articles in over 9,600 journals in the sciences, social sciences, arts, and humanities.
Our subscription includes Science Citation Index Expanded, Social Sciences Citation Index, and Arts & Humanities Citation Index, with coverage from 1976 to present. You may link to articles in journals available to Radford.
In addition to its wide coverage of significant scholarly literature, Web of Science provides two additional features:
- the “cited reference search,” which allows you to find articles or authors that have been cited in other works, and
- the “times cited” link that shows the number of times a particular article has been cited and provides a list of articles that have cited this article.
To learn more about Web of Science, come to our brown bag session Wednesday, September 13, from noon to 1:00 p.m. in McConnell Library, Classroom B.
