Blackwell Synergy journals now Wiley Interscience journals

Tag: Databases and CollectionsGerald Gordon @ 2:54 pm

Blackwell Synergy and Wiley InterScience journal publishers have merged. As a result, more than 800 Blackwell Synergy journals are now only available on Wiley InterScience.

How will this affect you?
It may not affect you at all, unless you are looking for an article that was formerly available through Blackwell Synergy.

If the “Find Full Text” link in a database takes you to the Wiley InterScience home page instead of directly to your article, follow these steps to get to your article:

  • Copy the title of your article, and paste it into the Wiley InterScience search box. Be sure to put the article title in quotation marks. This should take you to the article.
  • Or, if you see a DOI number in your citation, copy and paste this number into the search box.

If you had a personal account on Blackwell Synergy for alerts or RSS feeds, this account will be transferred to Wiley Interscience.

If you have any questions about finding articles or journals on Wiley Interscience, contact a reference librarian at refdesk@radford.edu; 831-5688; or IM RULibSpot.

Help us evaluate databases to purchase

Tag: Databases and CollectionsGerald Gordon @ 6:05 pm

In September and October, we are evaluating a number of databases as potential purchases for the Library. Please try out some of these databases and let us know what you think.

The list of database trials is linked from the “Find Articles & More” page. If you would like to bookmark the list, here is the link: http://rulib.runet.edu/search/ftlist%5Ebib93%2C1%2C0%2C19/mode=2.

Once you choose a database from the list, please click on the “About Resource” button to get a description of the database, when the trial expires, and a link to the trial.

We welcome comments from students, faculty, and staff. Please think about whether the database would help with courses or research. Is it easy to use? Do we already have databases that provide the same information, or would it add better coverage?

We will be adding more trials in the coming days, so be sure to check the list for updates. If you have any questions about these database trials or the selection process, please contact Gerald Gordon, Collection Development Librarian.
