Brown Bag: Keeping current through RSS and Alerts, 3/7

Wednesday, March 7, 2007, 12:00-1:00
McConnell Library Classroom B
Hosted by Candice Benjes-Small and Kevin Tapp

Drowning in journals? Tired of daily or hourly visits to your favorite websites? Discover alternatives that save you time and deliverer what you want.

*Use e-mail alerts to have a journal’s table of contents automatically sent to you - even if McConnell doesn’t have a subscription.

*Have a database run a search for your topic at requested intervals and e-mail you the results.

*With an RSS subscription, there’s no more need to visit a site or receive e-mails. Information control at its finest - get what you want, not what is sent.

*Looking for a better way to share research and information you’ve found? Let’s talk about social bookmarking (www.del.icio.us) and how it fits in with RSS.

Whether you want a better way to keep up with the Chronicle and your favorite journals, or are interested in some of the latest technologies like RSS and Delicious - this is the brown bag for you!

If you would like us to send you an Outlook appointment for the session, please send an e-mail to Candice, cbsmall@radford.edu

Brown bag sessions are intended for faculty and staff, but students who are interested in the topics are also welcome!
