We have recently added three new theatre and drama databases:
- Theatre in Video
- American Film Scripts Online
- Twentieth Century North American Drama
Theatre in Video provides online streaming video of staged plays and documentaries on theatre. With live television broadcasts of New York productions from the 50s, revivals of classic works and experimental performances from the 60s and 70s, as well as important contemporary performances, Theatre in Video covers a wide range of 20th century theatre history. These are the actual original productions, captured and recorded while performed for a live theatre audience. Currently, 279 video titles are available and, when complete, the collection will contain more than 350 plays and documentaries.
American Film Scripts Online currently provides 823 full-text film scripts. When completed, the collection will include over 1,000 scripts and over 100,000 scenes. Many of the scripts have never been published. The database is full-text searchable and includes detailed indexing on scenes, characters, and people. Supplemental information includes short biographies on the writers and awards given to individual films have been noted.
Twentieth Century North American Drama contains 1,386 full-text plays by 209 playwrights, together with detailed, fielded information on related productions, theaters, production companies, and more. The database also includes selected playbills, production photographs and other ephemera related to the plays. When complete, the collection will contain 2,000 plays by more than 300 playwrights.
